In a CozyBag you sleep comfortably as you can spread your arms in all directions. And the closure at the bottom opens easily, to allow you to go out quickly, e.g. to the toilet on the campsite. But what if it's raining right then? Or if you are outside for a longer time with the CozyBag, when taking photos, fishing or around the camp?
First of all, sleeping bags are never waterproof because the seams can not be taped. But the outer fabric of our CozyBags comes with a water-repellent coating. Drizzle, a brief shower or splash of water beads up and runs off from the fabric and thus leaves you dry.
After some time in use or after a few washes this coating wears off and should be renewed. There are now environmentally friendly and very effective products from various specialized manufacturers. We recommend combining Tech Wash and TX.Direct Spray from Nikwax.
Wash first
The CozyBag should be washed first, preferably by hand in lukewarm water with the Nikwax Tech Wash Soap. It is also possible to machine wash it in a gentle program, but remove beforehand all detergent residues in the detergent chamber of the washing machine. Persistent stains can also be treated in advance with undiluted Tech Wash soap and a sponge.
Incidentally, washing with Tech Wash also refreshes the water-repellent properties of the fabric so that it does not need to be re-impregnated every time after washing. In addition, Tech Wash is water-based, non-hazardous and biodegradable.
Water repellent treatment with spray
The CoyzBag does not need to be totally dry to treat it. Put it outside or on the terrace on a surface with newspaper or an old blanket underneath. Spray evenly with the TX.Direct spray from a distance of approx. 15 cm. The pump-spray bottle needs no propellant gases and the solution is PFC-free, without solvents and non-flammable. The water-repellent layer will be applied around every fibre, so moisture vapour can still pass through, maintaining breathability.
Wait 2 minutes and remove excess drops with a damp cloth. Then turn and repeat for the back. Take special care that the shoulders, arms and hood are well treated. Allow the CozyBag to dry well at the air, aftertreatment with heat, e.g. in the dryer, is not necessary. This water-repellent treatment also lasts some washes, so under normal circumstances one treatment per year should be enough.
